Privacy policy

Last updated October 25, 2026

Seatbelt is made by RBW Labs, LLC. This policy covers tryseatbelt.com, the waitlist you can join here, and the Seatbelt browser extension once it is released. It says what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.

The short version

We collect what we need to run this site, keep a waitlist, and learn which messages people respond to. We don't sell personal information. Seatbelt is designed so that we don't see your passwords or your bank balance, and so that we don't keep a record of where you go.

What we collect on this site

  • Waitlist details. If you join the waitlist, we keep your email address, the plan you picked, the date, and your answer to the one-question survey if you give one. We use them to send a confirmation, to send your invitation, and to understand which plan people want.
  • How the page is used. We use PostHog, an analytics service, to count visits and to measure which headline and which steps people respond to. It records the pages you view, the buttons you use, which version of the page you saw, and the campaign tags in the link that brought you here. For visitors in the United States it gives your browser a random identifier so your visit is counted once; from anywhere else it runs without storing anything on your device. It does not record what you type or replay your session.
  • Advertising measurement. We advertise on Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Google, and Nextdoor. Google Tag Manager, and the tags it loads (the Google Ads tag, Google Analytics, and the Meta Pixel), are used on this marketing site only and are switched on only for visitors in the United States, where our ads run. From anywhere else, including the EU and the UK, the site sets no advertising or analytics cookies. Each platform's own privacy policy describes what it collects, and your Facebook and Google account settings control personalized ads.
  • Where you are visiting from. To apply the rule above, our hosting provider tells the page which country your visit comes from, and the page keeps that two-letter country code in a cookie named sb_country for one day. It holds nothing else.
  • Technical logs. Our hosting provider, Amazon Web Services, processes your IP address and browser details to deliver the pages and to protect the site. We keep those logs for a limited time.

The extension

Seatbelt is a browser extension for Chrome and Edge. When it is available, this section will say exactly what it collects, and the store listing will carry the same policy. The design it will hold to:

  • It checks the address of each site you visit, and some of the page's content, to decide whether something looks wrong. That check happens on your computer wherever possible. When an address is checked against a list we keep, we see the address, not what you did there.
  • It does not read your passwords, your account balances, or the contents of your messages.
  • It keeps counts of pauses and warnings, not a history of where you go.
  • If you add a safety contact, we send them a short note only at the moment Seatbelt pauses, never your browsing.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use disclosure

Seatbelt's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy , including the Limited Use requirements.

Who we share with

Service providers that help us run Seatbelt: Amazon Web Services for hosting, the waitlist database, and email; PostHog for analytics; and the advertising platforms named above. They process information on our behalf or under their own policies, as described. We share information when the law requires it. We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it with data brokers.

How long we keep it

Waitlist details until Seatbelt launches and you have had the chance to become a customer, or until you ask us to delete them. Analytics data for up to a year. Hosting logs for a limited time.

Your choices

  • Email us to see, correct, or delete your waitlist details.
  • Most browsers let you block third-party tags. The site works without them.
  • Your Facebook and Google account settings control personalized ads.

Children

Seatbelt is for adults. This site is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes

When this policy changes, we update the date at the top. If a change matters to people on the waitlist, we email them.
